Host of Last Week Tonight, John Oliver, released a YouTube web exclusive of his show with his tips for staying away from everyone and avoiding the chaos of New Year’s Eve

Last Week Tonight doesn’t return to HBO until 2015, but host John Oliver took to YouTube for a Web Exclusive to give his thoughts and tips on having a successful New Year’s Eve.

The former Daily Show correspondent and host for a short-time gave some really great advice for New Year’s Eve and avoiding the three worst things about New Year’s Eve:

"“Forced interactions with strangers; being drunk, cold, and tired; and having to stare at Ryan Seacrest for five solid minutes waiting for him to tell you what the time is.”"

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver will return on Feb. 8, 2015, which can’t come fast enough, honestly.

Oliver has been impressive as the host of his own show, which could have easily been predicted by watching Oliver show off his hosting chops for the summer while Jon Stewart was directing his hit film, Rosewater.

After Stewart returned, Oliver had done so well that HBO offered him his own show, and Oliver jumped at the opportunity.

I’ve been really impressed with Oliver and Last Week Tonight. Obviously, Oliver has a lot of experience in the comedy talk show field, but in the first season of his show, Oliver was solid and didn’t miss a beat the entire season. There were no dull episodes, which often isn’t the case for first-time hosts.

Plus, Oliver just gave some great advice: stay away from strip clubs on New Year’s Eve… and all the time, of course, “unless Ebola goes airborne and the only cure is glitter.”
