Winner: J.J. Watt

53 tackles, 19 assists, 17.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 5 fumble recoveries.

Is that the resume for the NFL MVP? While my vote went to Aaron Rodgers, it’s a compelling argument.

And that’s before you add in 5 touchdowns, many of which came on offense.

It’s so hard to get the award when you’re a defensive player, but it’s clear he’s a once in a lifetime player. Imagine how this team would have fared had Watt not been playing. That’s not to say the defense is hopeless without him, but it’s just nowhere near as good. There were plenty of times when Watt occupied so much attention, other players could get free and cause havoc.

That’s assuming the offense could even stop him, which they often couldn’t. He was amazing, unstoppable and a force to be reckoned with.

Hmmm.

Is it too late to change my vote PFWA?
