We provide a New Year’s resolution for each team in the NBA‘s Western Conference

If the NBA’s Eastern Conference is primarily a dumpster heap of garbage, which with the exception of the first five teams it is, then the Western Conference is more like the King’s palace. It is filled with fine gold and silver. A few shekels will not buy you the palace. Heck, it will hardly get you a guest room for the night.

That’s because with as many great players as reside in the Eastern Conference, we can easily double that number (perhaps even triple it) for the Western Conference. There is nary a team that lacks a legitimate All-Star candidate, while many sport at least two legitimate candidates. Only the Lakers and Timberwolves are questionable in being able to send someone worthy to New York City this year.

The point is that the Western Conference for the 15,000th year in a row is absolutely stacked. Competition is fierce. Winning this conference in late May will be even more difficult than the well known biblical example of getting the camel to go through the eye of a needle. It will be the strongest team which survives.

10 teams figure to have a legitimate shot at making the Western Conference playoffs. But all 15 teams have a need for a New Year’s Resolution as 2015 rolls around.

This is the second in a two-part series. For Friday’s Eastern Conference New Year’s Resolutions piece, click here
