12. Arizona Cardinals

At one point this season, the Arizona Cardinals were the number one seed in the NFC and many expected to see them keep that spot. They had an excellent combination of offense and defense, and they appeared to have exactly the type of balance that championship teams need.

Unfortunately, starting quarterback Carson Palmer went down with a torn ACL and then backup quarterback Drew Stanton went down with a knee injury of his own. After those two went down, running back Andre Ellington also went down for the season with sports hernia surgery. Arizona went from being a legitimate contender to perhaps the weakest team in the playoffs.

There is still a chance that they could figure things out and make a run in the playoffs, but it certainly isn’t likely.

It will be interesting to see how Arizona fares against the Carolina Panthers. Carolina is playing their best football of the season, and the Cardinals are going to have a very tough task to get through the first round.
