If you were expecting to watch the Rose Bowl this afternoon on our phone, tablet, laptop or any other digital medium that millions of people use, then ESPN had anther thing coming to you. Despite the fact that this game has been on ESPN’s slate for months and there has ben ample time to prep servers for online streams, Watch ESPN crashed just minutes into the start of the Rose Bowl.

Needless to say, people who wanted to watch the Rose Bowl as though we’re in the 21st century were not pleased that ESPN is still operating on dial-up.

This isn’t the first time that major network servers have crashed during a massive global event. The season premiere and finale of Game of Thrones on HBO Go was an utter disaster, as the servers crashed both times to varying degrees of frustration.

True Detective also saw the servers crash for HBO GO with the NBC severs going down every so often when major events like the Kentucky Derby, Stanley Cup and other events air.
You’d think that these major networks would have their server game together given the digital age we live in. Almost as many people who watch events on television are watching online via mobile devices or laptops, which means someone needs to man up and adapt to the times.

EPSN failed in the most miserable way possible on Thursday with their Rose Bowl server troubles on Watch ESPN, as there hasn’t been a bigger day in the network’s history yet they botched things in just the worst way.
