San Antonio Spurs

Reason: Has the Spurs championship window closed?

Doesn’t it seem like forever ago when the San Antonio Spurs were atop of the basketball world? They made a two-time champion in the Miami Heat look like they weren’t meant to play on the same basketball court as they were.

The Spurs were bombing three-pointer’s left and right, and were running a clinic on the Heat. There was nothing that anyone on the Heat roster could do because the way the Spurs played in the NBA Finals made fans fall in love with team basketball again.

Those same Spurs this year are once again flying under the radar, but not because of choice. With a 26-16 record this Spurs team doesn’t look nearly as good as they did last season.

With that being said, we have no clue if the championship window for the Spurs has finally come to a close, since they always find a way to surprise us at the end of the season, but right now it’s looking like their championship window is done.

The Spurs are in the seventh spot in the Western Conference playoff standings, and everyday the Oklahoma City Thunder are getting close.

In addition, we can’t count out the New Orleans Pelicans. As long as they have Anthony Davis, no one should get too safe thinking that their playoff spot is guaranteed. There’s no team in the league that should want to see how much will he has to get his team into the playoffs.
