QB Tom Brady, New England

Brady’s Super Bowl experience should give him a chance to prepare for this game in as “normal” a way as possible without getting caught up in the hype, but the problem is the athleticism of the Seattle defense.

No team in the NFL attacks with the ferocity or speed of the Seahawks, and there’s little that Brady will be able to do if he doesn’t get excellent protection. The best thing he will be able to do is hit a couple medium- to long-range passes early in order to slow down the Seahawks’ aggressive charge.

That has not been part of the Patriots’ gameplan in recent weeks because they have been so successful with the power running game. There’s no doubt that New England wants to run the ball in this game, and stretching the defense early will help them out.

The Seahawks’ talent on defense means Brady’s receivers will have a much harder time getting open and the windows to throw the ball will be tighter and smaller. The answer to this issue is accuracy. Brady is going to have to put the ball on the numbers of his receiver from start to finish because the margin of error will be so small.

This has been Brady’s greatest strength throughout his career. He completed 64.1 percent of his passes this season, and has completed 63.5 percent of his throws throughout his career.

Passing accuracy is his biggest challenge in this game, and Brady must be at his best to pass this exam.
