5. Devin McCourty, Safety

Perhaps the best option for the Indianapolis Colts at the safety position would be to re-sign Mike Adams, but the more attractive option if possible would be to sign Devin McCourty.

McCourty was a huge difference maker for the New England Patriots, and made plays all season long. He finished the year recording 68 tackles to go along with a forced fumble, two interceptions, and six defensed passes. Being 27 years of age helps him fit perfectly into what the Colts are doing now and will be doing in the future.

Adams would probably be a cheaper deal, but at 34 he may choose to call it quits. It will be very intriguing to see what the Colts do at the safety position, but either Adams or McCourty would be good pickups.

New England’s defense wouldn’t have been nearly as good as it ended up being without McCourty. Indianapolis needs to bring in another playmaker or two to their defense, and shelling out the money for McCourty might be worth it.
