Midseason NBA Player Rankings: Steph Curry vs. James Harden
By Bryce Olin
19. Goran Dragic
17.0 PPG, 4.1 APG, 3.7 APG, 17.9 PER
Although the Phoenix Suns have three point guards who play almost 30 minutes per game, Goran Dragic has been the best of the bunch lately.
It’s been a weird transition for all three players, and Dragic has had to take some time to figure exactly how he fits in.
It appears Dragic has carved out a little niche for himself in the Suns offense as a scorer, mostly. Dragic has never been that great of a passer, but his assist numbers are down a tad from his career average.
In his last five games, Dragic is averaging 17.6 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.6 rebounds. While not great numbers, Dragic has been incredibly efficient and has shot 55 percent from the field over the same stretch. It’s that kind of efficiency that has made Dragic the Suns most valuable player, even more so than Eric Bledsoe.
You see, on a team with so many random pieces, someone has to hold it all together with solid play every night and be willing to do what it takes to win. That player for the Suns is Dragic.
Without him, and they might be without him soon if they trade him, the Suns would not be in eighth place in the West at the mid-way point of the season. That’s a fact.
