NFL: DeMarco Murray, top 5 impact free agents
By Evan Massey
5. Julius Thomas, Tight End
The Denver Broncos are not likely going to be able to keep both Demaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas, which means that they will likely allow Julius to hit the free agent market. If that is the case, he is going to be a very dynamic target for quite a few different teams, and there will be some high offers rolling in for him.
Thomas finished the 2014 season with 43 catches for 489 yards and 12 touchdowns. He didn’t put up the yards or reception totals to be looked at as one of the most dynamic free agents, but his touchdown totals show just how valuable he is for teams in the red zone.
Defenses simply cannot match up against a 6’5″ and 250 pound tight end who possess the athleticism that Thomas does. Every single team in the NFL could use a body like him in the passing game, and Peyton Manning has been more than happy to have him on the Broncos the past couple of seasons. It is going to be very intriguing to see where he ends up, but he is going to have his choice of contract offers.
Offenses have begun getting away from the dominant tight end, but Thomas brought some of that back in Denver. Expect to see quite a bit of interest in him from the get-go in free agency.
Next: 4. Jeremy Maclin, Wide Receiver
