Does Bill Belichick Have The Ability To Bury The Beli-Cheat Moniker?

Bill Belichick is generally regarded as the best head football coach of his generation, and one of the best all time. His accomplishments have set records, his consistent winning has been legendary, his attention to detail is unmatched.

And yet.

A cloud hangs over the Bill Belichick era in New England. There was Spygate. There’s Deflategate. There was even tackle-ineligible-gate a couple of weeks ago against the Ravens in the divisional round.

Is Belichick a cheater?

The answer is probably not, but he’s engaged in such aggressive gamesmanship that his reputation has taken a hit.

If the Patriots win their fourth Super Bowl, will the rooting public forgive Belichick and allow him the unfettered chance to have his face virtually carved on the Mt. Rushmore of NFL Coaches, or will they still find him impossible to forgive?

What if the Patriots lose? Will it forever be said that Bill Belichick couldn’t win without cheating?
