Previous: 30th. Buffalo Sabres. 30. team. 12.
The Buffalo Sabres are last in the NHL in goals per game, goals against per game, power play percentage and penalty kill percentage. Their 31 points is also the fewest in the league and their minus-78 goal differential is 26 worse than the second worst team. Buffalo looks to snap their 11-game losing streak coming out of the break.
. (14-30-3)

Edmonton Oilers. 29. team. 148.
Buffalo has the fewest points in the league but the Edmonton Oilers have the fewest wins with only 12 in 47 games. The firing of head coach Dallas Eakins in December has seen the Oilers go 5-7-4 under Todd Nelson, but it looks like another year where the Oilers are playing for another No. 1 overall pick. This team is in a perpetual state of rebuilding and maybe it is time to shake up this nucleus.
. (12-26-9). Previous: 29th

121.
The Arizona Coyotes entered the All-Star break mired in a six-game losing streak and in a tie for the third fewest points in the league with 37. Oddly enough the Coyotes have one of the best power play units, converting at 21.5 percent, but they rank 28th in goals per game and the team hasn’t been able to prevent the other team from scoring. Arizona ranks 29th in goals allowed per game at 3.3 and Mike Smith will get the starts moving forward after the trade of Devan Dubnyk. Look for this team to be broken up before the trade deadline.
. (16-25-5). Previous: 28th. Arizona Coyotes. 28. team

team. 109.
The season began with the Carolina Hurricanes battling injuries and an already thin roster began the year with an eight-game losing streak. January has been kinder to the Hurricanes with a 6-2-1 record in the new year, but it may be difficult to keep up their winning ways considering they rank 29th in goals per game.
. (16-25-5). Previous: 27th. Carolina Hurricanes. 27

85.
The first half was a disaster for the New Jersey Devils who parted ways with head coach Peter DeBoer on Dec. 26 after a 12-17-7 start. The team’s gone 5-5-1 in the 11 games since the coaching change, but this is a team without much young offensive talent and needs to trade some veterans like Jaromir Jagr and acquire some young talent. They’re not making the playoffs this year or next year in all likelihood so the next few weeks will be monitoring who will be a part of the future and who will be traded.
. (17-22-8).
