26.) Super Bowl XXII – Washington Redskins vs. Denver Broncos

In a season that was shortened a game due to a players’ strike, the Redskins won their second title by beating the Broncos 42-10.

Washington trailed 10-0 after the first quarter, but that was fine with them since they scored a Super Bowl record 35 points in the second quarter and went on a 42-0 run all together.

It’s hard to say a team won the game from just one quarter, but that’s pretty much what happened on this day.

Denver was simply overwhelmed after that second quarter.

There were a few great offensive performances from Washington, but Doug Williams’ effort stood out the most as he was awarded Super Bowl MVP for completing 18/29 passes for 340 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.

Timmy Smith also ran the ball 22 times for 204 yards and two touchdowns, and Ricky Sanders caught nine passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns.

John Elway had a rough day for Denver: 14/38 passing for 257 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.
