NFL Power Rankings: 30 best TE of all-time
No. 11 Charlie Sanders, Detroit Lions
Another member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Charlie Sanders was named to the 1970s All Decade Team after a productive ten year career. Sanders was named to the Pro Bowl seven times, and was All Pro three times. He was universally respected as both a blocker and a pass catcher.
Unfortunately for his notoriety, he never played in the playoffs – having retired in 1977, he barely missed the window when the Detroit Lions rode Billy Sims to winning records. There’s no doubt, however, that Sanders was one of the best ever to play the tight end position.
