No. 30 Ben Coates, New England Patriots / Baltimore Ravens

Ben Coates had a surprisingly productive career. He played ten years in the NFL, and in his prime he put up some big numbers. His best season came in 1994, when he hauled in 96 passes for 1,174 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Coates was selected to five Pro Bowls, and was a two-time All Pro. For a six year span, he put up over 50 receptions every season, and over 60 receptions in five of those six seasons.

Coates was used in much the same way that his coach, Bill Parcells, used another tight end on the list in a previous stop – Mark Bavaro with the Giants. Parcells was one of the first head coaches to really rely on the tight end as a focal point on the offense, and Coates was the beneficiary.
