NFL Power Rankings: 30 best TE of all-time
No. 25 Billy Cannon, Houston Oilers / Oakland Raiders
Billy Cannon had one of the more fascinating careers in the history of the NFL. He was drafted No. 1 overall both by the LA Rams of the NFL and the Houston Oilers of the AFL in 1960. Cannon won a Heisman at LSU as a halfback. Cannon was the center of the famous bidding war between the AFL and the NFL, with Bud Adams of the Oilers winning out to put the AFL on solid footing in its competition with the NFL.
After a decent career as a half back, Cannon was traded to the Oakland Raiders, where Al Davis converted him to tight end. As a tight end, Cannon dominated. He averaged over 20 yards per catch and had 22 touchdowns in 6 seasons.
