15. Ricky Sanders in Super Bowl XXII

WR, Washington ‘Redskins’

Washington’s wide receiver put together an incredibly special game against the Denver Broncos on Jan. 31, 1988. The Broncos got out to a 10-0 lead, but then the ‘Skins scored an amazing 42 unanswered points. Sanders started off Washington’s comeback with an 80 yard touchdown reception. Later in the second quarter he hauled in a 50 yard touchdown.

Sanders finished the day with two touchdowns and 193 yards on nine total receptions. In my opinion only one wide receiver has ever played better on the biggest stage than Sanders did in Super Bowl XXII. He didn’t win the MVP award for the game, but he certainly could have. Regardless he won’t be forgotten in Washington anytime soon.
