12. Doug Williams in Super Bowl XXII

QB, Washington ‘Redskins’

On Jan. 31, 1988 Washington put together the greatest quarter in Super Bowl history. Specifically, the second quarter against the Denver Broncos. The leader of the offensive onslaught was quarterback Doug Williams. He led the ‘Skins to 35 points in that quarter and 42 unanswered in the game.

Williams threw for four touchdown passes in the second quarter of Super Bowl XXII and his team scored five offensive touchdowns in the quarter. He was named the game’s MVP as he threw for 340 yards on just 18 completions. He threw one interception in the game, but overcame that one mistake in a huge way. His performance was truly legendary.
