Kickoff time

The Super Bowl’s official kickoff time has been pushed back slightly from what it was when I was kid. I remember very specifically the game starting at 3:18 PM (pacific time) when I was a child. Then as I got older I remember 3:25 being the new time.

This year, the posted kickoff time is 6:30 PM eastern time, 5:30 central, 4:30 mountain (local to where the game is being played) and 3:30 pacific.

If you happen to be living, or stuck on business, etc. in the United Kingdom, the game begins at 11:30 PM and will be available on Sky Sports and on the radio.

The Super Bowl is an international event, though. So here are a few more time slots for the game:

  • Dusseldorf, Germany (Pats OT Sebastian Vollmer birthplace): Monday at 12:30 AM
  • Canberra, Australia (Capital City): Monday at 8:30 AM
  • Tokyo, Japan (once hosted an NFL preseason game): Monday at 6:30 AM
  • Vatican City (in case the pope plans to watch the game from his residence): Sunday at 10:30 PM
  • Johannesburg, South Africa & Istanbul, Turkey: Sunday 11:30 PM
  • Saint Petersburg, Russia: Monday at 12:30 AM
  • Mexico City, Mexico (hosted an NFL International Series game): Sunday at 3:30 PM
