9) Joe Montana, San Francisco 49ers – Super Bowl XXIII

The greatest postseason quarterback of all-time makes the first of multiple appearances on this list. Montana did not earn MVP honors for this particular game, as that award went to his top target in Jerry Rice, but in a vacuum, the quarterback was responsible for a big-time passing performance.

In fact, this was actually Montana’s most prolific showing from a yardage standpoint, as he compiled 357 yards in just 36 attempts. He did not issue an interception along with two touchdowns, and it is somewhat hilarious that his 63.9% completion rate is the only knock on an otherwise flawless performance.

Somehow, the 49ers scored only 20 points in the win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but that was no fault of Joe Montana’s. As referenced above, we are just getting started with the legendary San Francisco quarterback.
