Cornerback

  • Mel Blount – Pittsburgh Steelers – 4-0, 2 Interceptions
  • Deion Sanders – San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys – 2-0, 1 Interception, 3 Passes Defensed

Safety

  • Ronnie Lott – San Francisco 49ers – 4-0, 11.5 Total Tackles, 3 Passes Defensed
  • Jake Scott – Miami Dolphins – 2-1, 1 MVP, 2 Interceptions

While Deion Sanders only picked off one pass in his two Super Bowls, he shut down both the Chargers and Steelers in grand fashion. Mel Blount was also an easy choice with two interceptions on the Steel Curtain.

It’s downright wrong to leave Lester Hayes off the team. With only two spots though he had to get snubbed.

Interestingly enough, the safety position doesn’t have an abundance of candidates. Ronnie Lott was my clear-cut number one selection and Jake Scott is the lone “No Name Defender” to make the cut.

Snubs:
Lester Hayes – CB – Oakland Raiders
Ty Law – CB – New England Patriots
Eric Wright – CB – San Francisco 49ers
Willie Wood – S – Green Bay Packers
Rodney Harrison – S – San Diego Chargers, New England Patriots
