Kicker

  • Adam Vinatieri – New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts – 4-1, 2 Game Winning Field Goals

Punter

  • Ray Guy – Oakland Raiders – 3-0, 7 Punts Inside the 20 yard line

Kick Returner

  • Desmond Howard – Green Bay Packers – 1-0, 1 MVP, 244 Return Yards, 1 return touchdown

Coach

  • Joe Gibbs – Washington Redskins – 3-0, 3 Wins with 3 Different QB’s

Vinatieri was the easiest selection on the team. To consider he not only nailed one game winning field goal, but two, is amazing. The only Hall of Fame punter in NFL history is our representative for the All-Time Super Bowl team.

Howard essentially is still the only winner of the Super Bowl team to be a special teamer. Yes, he did also catch a touchdown from Brett Favre, but it was his return magic that’ll keep his name in Super Bowl lure until the end of time.

While most go with Chuck Noll as the top Super Bowl coach of all time, simply because he has the most victories with four, I’ll take Joe Gibbs. To think that Gibbs won three championships with three different quarterbacks is one of the more underrated accomplishments in history.

Noll was entrenched with a Hall of Fame quarterback and probably the greatest defense of all time Gibbs reinvented his teams all three times.

Snubs:
Chuck Noll – Coach – Pittsburgh Steelers –  4-0
Bill Belichick – Coach – New England Patriots – 3-2
Bill Walsh – Coach – San Francisco 49ers – 3-2
