Is Marshawn Lynch Indispensable Or Expendable?

Positive Legacy Prospects:

Since Seattle traded to acquire Marshawn Lynch from Buffalo, he has been truly dominant. He’s rushed for at least 1,200 yards in four straight seasons, and has given the offense an attitude and a swagger that they can power over any opponent. He’s provided balance to a team with a young quarterback and questionable receivers that relies on defensive dominance and ball control.

Beast Mode played well in the playoffs last year, but wasn’t really called upon to do much in the Super Bowl. He’s capable of taking over any game he’s in – if he does that on Sunday, he can be responsible for ending the Patriots dynasty and helping to sustain Seattle’s new reign. It can also go far towards helping him make a case for the Hall of Fame several years down the line, especially as his career rushing stats continue to grow (he’s currently at 8,695 yards and 71 touchdowns).

Negative Legacy Prospects:

If Marshawn Lynch fails in a second straight Super Bowl to kick it into Beast Mode (last year he had only 15 carries for 39 yards), the questions will again begin to swirl. He has been rumored to be a problem in the locker room, and reports emerged earlier this year that he was on the trading block. If he can’t find his stride and Seattle loses, will they consider cutting ties in favor of a better locker room guy?
