Super Bowl 2015: Biggest Storylines
By Bryce Olin
Marshawn Lynch
Marshawn Lynch is a character, man, but he comes with a lot of baggage.
Lynch doesn’t like talking to the media and for good reason, but the NFL keeps forcing him to be out there and “available” to reporters. If Lynch refused to chat at Super Bowl Media Day, the NFL was reportedly going to fine Lynch $500,000.
At Super Bowl Media Day, Lynch was available to reporters, and he even talked quite a bit. However, he basically said the same thing over and over again, “I’m just here so I won’t get fined.”
He makes those reporters look so dumb and desperate for a quote. It’s just sad.
Apparently, the hat Lynch is wearing is also his “BeastMode” hat, which is for sale on his website and is now the biggest talking point surrounding Lynch. The NFL doesn’t usually allow players to wear unapproved gear in interviews, especially at Super Bowl Media Day.
In 2007, Brian Urlacher was fined $100,000 for wearing a Vitamin Water hat on media day, according to SI.com.
In recent weeks, Lynch has also been fined by the NFL for doing his “d*ckgrab” pose during games, which is basically the NFL’s version of Sam Cassell’s “Big Balls” dance.
Then, after fining Lynch for his pose while scoring a touchdown in the NFC Championship Game, the NFL turned around and started selling the photos of the Lynch’s “d*ckgrab” pose, you know, to make a little extra cash on the side.
Will we see Lynch’s famous pose in Super Bowl? I guarantee he’ll be fined, if he does!
In the big game, the Seahawks need to get Lynch going early and often to wear down the Patriots defense. Even if it’s not working, Seattle needs to stick to their guns. It worked against Green Bay, and even on the final drive, the Seahawks were pounding the Packers with Lynch.
If the Patriots are going to win the Super Bowl, they’re going to have to earn it by slowing down Lynch for the full 60 minutes.
