Super Bowl 2015: Biggest Storylines
By Bryce Olin
End of an Era vs. Beginning of a Dynasty
This game could be a “passing of the torch” of sorts in the NFL.
Starting in 2001, the New England Patriots won three of the next four Super Bowls. Since then, New England is 0-2 in Super Bowls, but the Patriots have won the AFC East 12 times since 2001.
Tom Brady isn’t going to play forever. Bill Belichick isn’t going to coach forever.
After all these cheating accusations and the public turning on the Pats over the last week, I think the end of the Patriots as we know them is going to happen much sooner than people think. I’m not saying it’ll be this season, but if New England wins, I could definitely see Brady and Belichick going out on top.
The Seattle Seahawks have already won one Super Bowl, and they are the seventh-youngest team in the NFL. If they win another Super Bowl, the Seahawks could begin a decade of dominance in the NFL, possibly even better than the Patriots.
It will be hard to keep the gang together, but the Seahawks developed all of this young talent in the first place. Who’s to say they can’t keep making great draft picks and developing even more talented players?
A win for the Seahawks could trigger one of the best runs in the history of the NFL. A win for the Patriots would cement their legacy as one of the greatest runs in the history of the NFL.
That’s what is at stake on Sunday… oh, and a Super Bowl trophy! That’s important, too!
