5. Chris Matthews’ Emergence

At 6 P.M. ET, Chris Matthews had never caught a ball in his career. Matthews known as the guy who corralled the Seahawks’ desperate onside kick attempt in the NFC Championship Game. Despite that, Matthews made a name for himself in this game and although I don’t expect him to get a huge contract, his impact on this game was felt and although people will call me crazy, he really was the MVP of this game for three and a half quarters.

In this game, Matthews caught four passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. The amazing thing is that each of his catches was monumental. With guys like Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner shutting down Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse, the Seahawks needed a receiver to step up tonight and that guy was Williams. If the Seahawks won this game, Matthews could’ve very well been leaving the stadium in a brand new car, which is given to the Super Bowl MVP.
