Sunday night’s Super Bowl had higher rated than the previous 48
I’m not sure it will come as a surprise to anyone that Sunday night’s game surpassed all previous Super Bowls in terms of viewership. The game had everything. Social media was in an uproar for several reasons, including the halftime show, commercials and, of course, the game itself.
There was drama right from the first drive where New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw an interception which resulted in Seattle’s Jeremy Lane breaking his arm in half. T
The first half was tightly contested and there were a number of great plays. The excitement on social media definitely influenced the ratings. The half ended with Seattle and New England even at 14 points, setting the second half up for an exciting finish.
If that wasn’t enough, Katy Perry delivered a memorable Super Bowl halftime show which included a giant metal cat and some crazy outfits. This once again sent the internet into a frenzy. Everyone thought it was a good idea to compare her fire outfit to, well, everything.
The second half was also a thriller, with a brawl, wild catch and last-second turnover to clinch the win for New England.
With all of these talking points — and some that were left out (Bob Kraft’s hot girlfriend) — is there any doubt why this was the highest rated Super Bowl in NFL history?
