Oscar-nominated Actress Felicity Jones will star in the new ‘Star Wars’ spinoff film directed by Gareth Edwards

Cue the blockbuster movie offers for the youngest of the Best Actress nominees at the 2015 Academy Awards.

Felicity Jones, who co-starred The Theory of Everything alongside Eddie Redmayne, has been cast to play the lead role in a Star Wars spinoff movie, according to Variety.

Details about the film are few and far between leading to speculation and rumors across the internet. With no one close to the film talking, it’s hard to imagine all rumors are true, so we’ll just hold off until the actual news starts flowing.

What we do know, and what’s been reported, is Disney and Lucasfilm are teaming up for more Star Wars movies, other than the three J.J. Abrams will be directing.

Gareth Edwards, who directed the newest Godzilla, has been tabbed as the director for the spinoff starring Jones. It’s also been reported Jones beat out Rooney Mara, best known for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and Tatiana Maslany, best known for Orphan Black, for the lead role in Edwards’ Star Wars film written by Chris Weitz, who also wrote the new Cinderella, which is scheduled for a 2015 release.

Of the other actresses mentioned, I think Jones is going to be great in Star Wars, like she was in The Theory of Everything.

Like I mentioned, there’s virtually no plot news or details about the film. Everyone close to the film is playing this one very close to the chest, if you will.
