Randall Cobb, Wide Receiver

The most obvious move that the Green Bay Packers need to make is re-signing wide receiver Randall Cobb. He is going to be one of the most popular free agents on the market, but he has expressed his desire to re-sign with the Packers.

Cobb put up huge numbers this past season with the Packers, catching 91 passes for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns. At just 24 years of age, the potential for him is through the roof. Aaron Rodgers ended up winning the MVP award this past season, but he couldn’t have done it without Cobb on the team.

Green Bay’s offense has consistently been one of the best in the NFL, and they would take a major hit if they allowed Cobb to go. He accounted for 71 first downs during the regular season this year, and averaged 14.1 yards per catch. Those numbers show just how valuable he is for the Rodgers and the Packers.

There is no way that Ted Thompson is going to allow Cobb to walk without a fight. He knows that the Packers need Cobb in their offense to be the dangerous high-powered unit that they have been. Green Bay has a perfect complement of receivers surrounding Rodgers, but Cobb is the most versatile by far.
