Byron Maxwell, Cornerback

Byron Maxwell would be the perfect cornerback addition for the Green Bay Packers. They are looking for some improvement in their secondary, and that is exactly what Maxwell would be able to bring to the table.

Perhaps the number one thing that he would bring to the Packers’ defense, is sure tackling from the cornerback position. That is one thing that Green Bay could have used this past season, and it ended up costing them a couple of games including the NFC Championship. Maxwell just so happened to play with the Seahawks this past year, and he would be a fairly cheap option compared to some of the other cornerbacks on the market.

At just 26 years of age, Maxwell is a long-term option for whoever decides to give him a deal. He has plenty of great football left in his career, and showed flashes of that potential last year. During the 2014 season, Maxwell recorded 39 tackles, two interceptions, and 12 passes broken up in 13 games.

It wouldn’t be the move that powered the Packers to the Super Bowl, but it would add another playmaker to the defense. Green Bay was much improved defensively this past year, but they could use one more step forward.
