Blue Steel is coming back in a big way. The mayor of Rome has announced that the sequel to the popular 2001 comedy will film for 12 weeks in the eternal city in the coming Spring.

Everyone you can stop sacrificing small animals and spamming Ben Stiller with emails now, our prayers have been answered. Zoolander is finally getting a sequel.

As we have previously reported way back last September, Will Ferrell confirmed his involvement in the sequel saying “We are actually supposed to do a read-through of a sequel script soon, and Mugatu is a part of it.” But since then we have heard little to no word about the production of the sequel to the legendary 2001 comedy.

As reported by Media Pancake:

"Mayor of Rome has announced that the follow-up will be filming there for 12 weeks this coming spring, meaning that we can expect the film to release sometime in 2016."

Which is awesome because this is the first shred of evidence in a while that the film is actually going to happen. Ben Stiller has said for years now that he had been working on the film. But I guess he must have been distracted by his side gig as a night guard at a museum.

While not a lot has been said about the film in terms of its plot, we do know for sure that Stiller and Ferrell will be reprising their roles as Derek Zoolander and Mugatu respectively. Also, according to IMDb, The Leftovers director and writer Justin Theroux is also attached to the movie.

While 2016 is still a whiles away, I think this is a great opportunity for us to all celebrate with orange mocha frappucinos!
