Round 1: QB Marcus Mariota

Going into the 2015 season, the Jets, as of now, are right where they left off at the end of the 2014 season. Geno Smith and Michael Vick both had various opportunities to prove they’re worthy of the starting position, but both were incompetent to say the least in 2014. With a new general manager in place as well as a new head coach, not many are expecting New York to be a playoff team in 2015. That being said, the Jets need to give their fans something to be excited about for the 2015 season and they can do that by drafting a player like Marcus Mariota.

Although I think Jameis Winston is the better prospect, I struggle to see Winston fit in with the New York media. Given his history of off-field problems, the media will always be out to get Winston. On the other hand, Mariota is the player you want to represent your franchise. Mariota has excellent feet. He can simply dazzle with his play-making ability and although there haven’t been many successful Oregon prospects in the past, Mariota has the chance to be special and he will put in everything he has to win football games. That demeanor and mindset will radiate well with this football team.
