Round 2: CB Jalen Collins

Obviously, the biggest problem for the Jets in 2014 was their inability to score points. However, their second biggest problem was their inability to defend against the pass. Dee Milliner and Dimitri Patterson were supposed to be the starters for the year, but an injury to Milliner sidelined him after Week 1. Patterson’s case was a little different. Patterson was awol from the team and that ultimately led to him being released by the Jets. With both of them out, the Jets relied on the likes of Darrin Walls and Kyle Wilson.

The amazing thing is that the Jets have a solid group upfront with Muhammed Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson, and Quinton Coples. When teams get good play from their defensive line, it usually means that they also get good play from their secondary. Well that wasn’t the case in 2014 and the need for an upgrade at the cornerback position is needed. Jalen Collins has the size and speed teams love and he played his college football in the toughest conference in the nation. The combination of Milliner and Collins won’t scare teams, but it will be better than the one the Jets fielded this past season.
