Round 7: OLB Kwon Alexander

Calvin Pace is 34 years old and he can’t be an outside linebacker for the Jets forever. Although the Jets like what they have in 2014 seventh-round pick Trevor Reilly, smart logic for the Jets would be to draft another outside linebacker in this year’s draft. Kwon Alexander played for one of the best defenses in the nation over the past few years in LSU and although LSU front seven players haven’t made the biggest impacts over the past few years, Alexander has a ton of intangibles that will intrigue the Jets.

At 6-foot-2, 227 pounds, Alexander doesn’t have the best size, but as I said earlier, his tangibles are top-notch. Alexander reads offenses extremely well and coaches in the NFL can only teach that so far. With an NFL weight room as well as a professional conditional program, Alexander will have the ability to put on weight. Alexander was the leading tackler for LSU last year and he would be a great fit in Bowles’ 4-3 defensive scheme.
