Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins says that he has no respect for former NBA forward Charles Barkley and he doesn’t care what he thinks either.

Kings center DeMarcus Cousins came out and said that not only does he not care what Sir Charles Barkley thinks, but he doesn’t respect him either. The statement comes after Barkley, now an NBA analyst, said critical things about Cousins being influential in the Kings coaching changes. Reports came out as the Kings were on the verge of hiring George Karl, that several players were not happy about the change. One of those players may have been Cousins as he had the following to say.

“I wasn’t consulted when the decision was made to fire Mike Malone and I’m not being consulted now,” Cousins told Yahoo Sports.

Of course, that wasn’t the only part of his quote.

He also added that Karl was a proven coach and that he would support the pick if that’s how it played out.

“I do not like all these discussions in the media while we have a coach in place. It is a distraction and not fair to Coach Corbin and this team.”

Barkley went on the record to say that Cousins was being ridiculous to think he had some kind of influence in the Kings’ coaching decisions.

“Yeah, I am totally disgusted with that. I almost went over the line. He ain’t done enough to deserve that type of power. They stink. Why would you give a guy that young that type of power?” (via CSN Bay Area)

Cousins has had negative words for Barkley before. He said he had no respect for Barkley in November of last year, well before the recent words on the Kings coaching decisions. Barkley’s reply was that Cousins needed to grow up and the NBA stands for “No Babies Allowed”.

According to the CSN Bay Area report, Cousins released a statement making the following clarifications.

"• Cousins had nothing to do with Michael Malone’s firing earlier in the season• Cousins respects then-coach Corbin• Neither he, nor his representatives, had offered any resistance to hiring Karl"

In that vein, it sort of looks like Barkley is stirring the pot on a guy that he obviously doesn’t think too highly of.
