The Detroit Pistons were rumored to be in talks to try and acquire Joe Johnson from the Brooklyn Nets — with their ace being the injured Brandon Jennings.
The Detroit Pistons are one of the better stories in the NBA this season as they’ve managed to bounce back after an abysmal start to their season. But it appears that they’re still in the market for a trade, as rumors popped up on Tuesday that they were looking at trying to acquire Joe Johnson from the Nets.

But the Pistons aren’t interested in trading Greg Monroe or Andre Drummond, which kind of takes away most of the trade mojo. So, naturally being the Pistons, the team offered up Brandon Jennings in a deal despite the fact that he’s out for the year.
According to Ohm Young Misuk from ESPN.com, the supposed deal that was floating around between the Nets and Pistons involved Detroit giving up Brandon Jennings — which implies they may be shopping him.

Jennings can be traded, but doing so is complicated by the fact that he’s hurt. But thanks to the corner cutting measures that teams take by acquiring expiring deals and contracts that won’t help them so that they can free themselves of salary cap chains, this deal is less silly to fathom.
Next season will see Jennings make $8.3 million but the Nets might be able to get out of that. This also opens up the door to other trades involving the guard but the fact that he’s out for the season dramatically lower the chances that he’s moved.
