Jimmy Fallon: SNL 40 After Party Was Off The Hook

After the filming of SNL’s 40th Anniversary Special, the cast as well as practically every famous musician gathered together to celebrate at the after party. What followed was the stuff of legends.

If you’re like the rest of us regular folks, you probably spent your Sunday night turning in early so that you could get up early for your non-famous job the next morning. Heck. You might have even tuned into Saturday Night Live’s 40th Anniversary Special like 23.1 million other people. But later in the night while you were about to drift off to sleep, you jumped up in a cold sweat after feeling something. A disturbance in the force. Though you couldn’t explain it, you knew that something big was happening somewhere.

Well, there was a reason for that: you were missing the single greatest party of our generation and the next.

It is widely known that after each taping of Saturday Night Live, the cast and crew throw an after party to celebrate the fact that they’re wildly rich and famous. So it should come as absolutely no surprise that after the taping of SNL 40 — which included a whole laundry list of musical, sports, and film celebrities as well as former cast and crew of the show — that they should throw the most epic party that ever was.

Here’s Fallon on last night’s episode of the Tonight Show recapping just exactly what us normal people missed out on.

That’s right. Everyone celebrity and their mom was at the show, and they all participated in the kind of jam session that only happens in fan fiction written by middle schoolers. Don’t believe Fallon? Well maybe your incredulous butt will believe these Instagram videos taken by the lucky few present at the party.

Here’s Sir Paul himself rocking out to a Beatle’s classic with Fallon and T-Swift.

As if that wasn’t enough, the trio went on to rock out to Swift’s popular and sickeningly catchy “Shake It Off.” Who knew Sir Paul was such a fan?

And of course, no party is complete with Michael Bolton himself showing up and “blowing everyone’s balls off” (as Seth Meyer reported).

Apparently the real highlight of the party began after Dave Chapelle informed Jimmy Fallon that Prince was in the room (which is one of the coolest sentences ever to be uttered in the English language). After beckoning Prince to come on stage, the symboled musician donned a guitar and proceeded to melt the faces of everyone in the room. Check out some of that here.

I bet even Larry David was upset he didn’t make it.
