Suns’ Goran Dargic to the Miami Heat

Let’s be honest for a second, who doesn’t want to see a Heat-Cavs matchup when the playoffs come rolling around this summer? Well, let me restate the question. Who doesn’t want to see a competitive Heat-Cavs matchup once the playoffs roll around?

The Heat did their best to keep King James in South Beach but unfortunately, he decided to take his talents back home to Ohio. Nevertheless, they were left with not enough pieces to be a competitive force in the East. At 22-30, they lack a certain center piece in their offense to be as good as they were last year making them kind of irrelevant.

That is until the Phoenix Suns put Goran Dragic on the trading market. Dragic is averaging 16.2 points and 4.2 assists. The Yugoslavian point guard may be just what the Heat need and what the Suns need to get rid of.

There is an old saying: too many cooks in the kitchen spoils the brother every time. For the Suns, it should be: Too many point guards on the roster causes sub-par performance on the court.

The Sun’s not only have their starting point guard in Goran Dragic, but also a stud backup in Isiah Thomas and viable option in first round draft pick from Syracuse, Tyler Ennis.

Besides, if the Suns don’t find a way to deal Dragic somewhere, his contract will expire this summer, causing them to get nothing for their foreign point guard.

There have been trade rumors surrounding Dragic for a while now, but nothing has gone through. One of the most exciting deals out there would be a trade with the Miami Heat.

The addition of Dragic would definitely be an upgrade at the point guard spot from Shabazz Napier and Mario Chalmers. Chalmers is only averaging 10.8 points this season and has had to make the transition to the shooting guard spot when Dwayne Wade is sidelined.

When Wade and company are at full strength, the addition of Dragic could be deadly for opponents. With Dragic’s unique ability to shoot and pass in transition, we might see some vintage 2013 Miami Heat basketball starting to be played again.

After all, if the Heat and Cavaliers meet up in the playoffs, not only would it be an NBA promoter’s dream, but also it would be an awesome matchup if Dragic joins the Heat.

However, with Dragic’s stock super high at this point in the season, the Sun’s will most likely hang on to their point guard unless they can get a pretty sweet deal for him. Right now, the teams that are in the front running are the Boston Celtics and the LA Lakers.

So unfortunately, the fantasy of seeing an epic Heat-Cavs series will remain just that- a fantasy.
