The Miami Heat’s Henry (formerly known as Bill) Walker delivered one of the best dunks of the season on Monday in his first NBA game in more than two years.

Remember Henry Walker? OK, you’re probably drawing a blank.

How about Bill Walker, the former Kansas State star who scrubbed on benches in Boston and New York during four seasons before disappearing after the 2011-12 campaign?

All the same, my friend.

Anyhow, Walker — who now prefers to go by Henry these days — made his first NBA appearance since April 18, 2012 on Monday as a member of the Miami Heat, and the now 27-year-old swingman left a lasting impression by scoring 11 points in their win over the Philadelphia 76ers. While three of his baskets came via long range, its his sole field goal from beyond the arc that has basketball fans in awe:

So, just where the dickens has Walker been?

Well, he’s put some in some frequent flier miles between NBA tours of duty, having played for Austin in the D-League before putting in work with a team in Venezuela. Walker came back to the States for two stints with the D-League’s Sioux Falls squad sandwiched between a stint with the Alaska Aces.

Walker’s got game, as he was once considered a lottery pick before knee injuries dropped into the second round of the 2008 draft. He’s currently under a 10-day contract with the Heat, yet performances like Monday could keep him on the roster for the remainder of the season. Keep in mind that the team struck D-League gold in the form of center Hassan Whiteside, so with Chris Bosh sidelined and Dwyane Wade going through his usual grab bag of injuries, Walker may very well be lightning striking twice.
