Welcome back dudes!

There’s almost no avoiding the fact that while the European stars are looking to come to MLS, American stars are looking to come home.

Three of them came home this year – Mix Diskerud (NYCFC), Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC) and Brek Shea (OCSC).

Diskerud, the favorite of the three, fills the spot in NYCFC’s midfield where Frank Lampard would’ve been had he actually been here (a story we won’t dive into).  He’s been excited to be back in the U.S. and has played well during the preseason, scoring a goal in NYCFC’s 3-0 win over Charleston Saturday night.

Jozy Altidore is looking for a bounce back year after struggling across the pond at Sunderland.  Toronto hopes that Altidore’s homecoming of sort, along with playing with USMNT teammate Michael Bradley will result in a lot of goals this season.

Orlando City’s Brek Shea may be the more interesting “new arrivals” of the group.

The 24-year-old former Stoke City wide man switched over to left back for both OCSC and the USMNT and insists that he is “reveling” in his new role, the first time he’s been in a defensive role since his days with FC Dallas.

“I am definitely enjoying the position,” he said.  “It is not new and yet it is at the same time.”
