Chicagoans set up a memorial for injured point guard Derrick Rose
Derrick Rose is alive.
I want to stress that: Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is alive. He doesn’t have a serious or life-threatening injury. But apparently it feels that way for some Bulls fans, who set up a memorial for the point guard on Fullerton Street in Chicago.
Here is a photo, via a Reddit user:

Rose is out for 4-6 weeks following surgery to repair the his torn right medial meniscus.
But apparently some fans were seriously worried for the oft-injured Bulls star, and decided to take matters into their own hands and set up this memorial.
The memorial includes crutches, flowers, framed photos of Rose, and generally looks like a funeral site rather than a fan-made memorial for someone whose knee will cause them to miss a couple of weeks of the basketball season.
There are a lot of people out there in the world who are more deserving of a memorial site than the Bulls point guard, but Rose and the city of Chicago have always seemed closer than most cities and their star athletes. (It’s kind of the inverse of the city’s relationship with Jay Cutler).
So here’s wishing Rose a speedy recovery, and wishing those who made this a better way to spend their time. It does look nice, though.
