Sam Bradford said Wednesday that his trade from the Rams to the Eagles Tuesday was in the works for weeks.

The St. Louis Rams may deny that they were shopping quarterback Sam Bradford for weeks before he was eventually traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for quarterback Nick Foles Tuesday, but Sam Bradford doesn’t.

Bradford said Wednesday that he wasn’t caught off guard at all when Chip Kelly and the Eagles nabbed him Tuesday.

“This has been in the works for a while so it didn’t catch me totally by surprise when it happened yesterday,” Bradford said according to Pro Football Talk.

Bradford said that he thought the Eagles would be looking to grab him and he’s certainly happy with the team he ended up with.

“I think any quarterback in the league would love to play for Chip, in his offense,” Bradford said. “It’s extremely quarterback-friendly. The tape that I’ve watched, it just looks like a lot of fun to play in. I think it’s similar to what I did in college at Oklahoma. I’m extremely excited.”

Bradford has also previously worked with Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, who coached him in St. Louis.

Sam Bradford was drafted first overall by the St. Louis Rams out of Oklahoma and he struggled for much of the five years in St. Louis due to injuries. In 2012, Bradford missed a lot of time due to a lower body injury, and he missed the rest of the season in 2013 after he tore his ACL in week seven. Bradford was set to return in 2014, but he tore his ACL again in week three causing him to miss the rest of the season.

Hopefully Bradford has shaken off all his injuries, as he’ll head to Philly to compete with Mark Sanchez for the starting spot for the Eagles.
