Round 3 Pick 88: T.J. Yeldon RB (Alabama)

By far the worst category for the Lions last year was their run game. With less than 89 yards per game, they ranked 28th in the league in rush yards, and after cutting Reggie Bush, a new RB with a fresh pair of legs only seems like a natural choice.

In 2012, T.J. Yeldon had the best season of any freshman running back in Alabama Crimson Tide history. A preseason All-American, Yeldon broke records for the Tide’s ground game as he rushed for 1,108 yards and tied Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram’s freshman record of 12 touchdowns. His prowess continued only slightly slowed through his third season.

Despite his lankier stature, Yeldon shows impressive speed, vision and lateral bursts to leave defenders in the dust. He could be the defibrillator Detroit’s running game desperately needs.
