Atlanta Hawks

Perhaps the most obvious surprise this season has been the Eastern Conference leading Atlanta Hawks. They are currently sitting at the top of the conference with a 50-14 record, and they have exceeded expectations in a huge way with the way they have played this season.

Jeff Teague has busted out to a big season, as has DeMarre Carroll, Al Horford, Paul Millsap and DeMarre Carroll.

Perhaps the most underrated player on the team is backup point guard Dennis Schroder. The entire team has completely bought into the system that head coach Mike Budenholzer has put into place.

Atlanta is definitely a championship contender at this point in the year, and they are going to be very difficult to beat in a seven-game series. They have an excellent starting lineup, but have also put together an excellent bench. It is good to see the franchise back playing at a high level after quite a few years of being unable to compete.
