With Gomez taking that step onto the brink of superstar status, the Brewers will always have a dangerous presence at the top of the lineup. Gennett and Lind will be heavily relied upon to surround Braun and give him every chance to regain that elite status form we saw for so many seasons.

The point is, this lineup has a ton of potential, especially with a bat at catcher like Jonathan Lucroy.

Where the club will need some major surprises, and perhaps a youngster to come up through the farm and make his presence felt, is the starting staff.

Even the bullpen might need some reinforcements later in the season. It’s tough to believe in the one-two punch of a very aging Francisco Rodriguez and Jonathan Broxton.

The good news for Brewers fans is that your club will not be as mediocre as 2014. The bad news is you’ll be less than mediocre.

I don’t think Braun will ever regain that superstar status we were so used to; Segura was quickly figured out by NL pitchers; the bullpen will most likely fall apart; and their starting staff will struggle.

The Cardinals, Pirates, and an emerging Chicago Cubs team will be too much to keep up with.
