2015 season predictions

It’s very possible that the Mets will be the New York baseball team everyone talks about throughout the season and could be the New York baseball team people watch in October.

  • While it’s unlikely they’ll win the NL East over the Washington Nationals, the Mets have a really good chance at returning to the playoffs as a wild card team after a drought that lasted nearly a decade.

Vegas has the Mets as a 28/1 favorite to win the World Series and are projected to win 83 games, although all of those projections were before the Wheeler injury.  However, even without Wheeler, should the Mets execute the way they’re supposed to, they could still manage to win about 85-87 games and sneak into the postseason as the second wild card team, forcing them to earn their October journey on the road.

The keys to the season will be if they can stay healthy through August and how they open the season and come out of the All-Star break.  If they can float around .500 by July, the Mets really have a good shot at reaching the postseason (minus anymore September collapses).

It may sound optimistic, however optimism is the perfect theme for the 2015 New York Metropolitans.
