Ndamukong Suh signed the largest contract in NFL history for a defensive player this offseason with the Miami Dolphins, a six year $114 million deal with $60 million guaranteed. With a salary change, there will also be a number change for Suh, as he will be number 93 with the Miami Dolphins.
Ndamukong Suh was drafted second overall in 2010 by the Detroit Lions and wore number 90 as their defensive tackle the past five years.
Suh announced his number change via his Instagram page:
The Dolphins are now selling Suh jerseys with his new number:
In the past five seasons with Detroit, Suh has been a menace on the defensive front, dominating offensive lineman. In his final season with Detroit last year, Suh led Detroit to be one of the top defenses in the NFL and had 8.5 sacks with 44 tackles.
Detroit tried to hold on to Suh this offseason, offering him a six-year $102 million deal with $58 million guaranteed that would still make him the highest paid defensive player in the NFL ahead of J.J. Watt, but Suh and his agent Jimmy Sexton made the move to go to Miami.
