Three Players to Watch

1B Prince Fielder

No team missed any one player than the Rangers missed Fielder for most of last season. If Fielder can come in healthy and just have an average year at the plate, it could be the difference between Texas looking up at four teams and looking down at at least one team in their division. The Rangers offense will go as he goes.

C Robinson Chirinos

Chirinos has proved that he can handle being a starting catcher in the majors. The next step is to become a leader on his team — something the Rangers desperately need behind the plate. As mentioned earlier, he’ll be dealing with one of the worst rotations in baseball. That said, we all know a good catcher can make a pitching staff better. Any improvements in Chirinos’ game behind the plate will spill over to the mound.

CF Leonys Martin

Martin has shown flashes of having what it takes to become one of the better center fielders in the game. He has already proven himself as a solid-if-not-elite baserunner. If he can start getting on base more with his bat and knocking in some runs here and there, it will only take pressure off Gallardo and co.
