Chicago Cubs

  • 2014 Finish: 73-89, 5th in NL Central
  • 2015 Key to Success: Growing up quickly

Could it be that Las Vegas is crazy, or is it me?

Right now, the Chicago Cubs are tied for the fifth best odds in the game to win the World Series, 14/1, via Vegas Insider.

That’s a tough number for a team with so many question marks. On a positive note, these question marks all deal with prospects taking the giant leap into the big leagues.

Jon Lester instantly brings stability and talent to the top of the rotation. Aside from that acquisition, young Cubbies will make or break the 2015 season.

Young Cubbies to watch out for:

  • 3B, Kris Bryant
  • RF, Jorge Soler
  • 2B, Javier Baez
  • RP, Hector Rondon
  • SP, Kyle Hendricks
  • SS, Addison Russell
  • OF, Kyle Schwarbar
  • OF, Albert Almora
  • RHP, C.J. Edwards
  • RHP, Pierce Johnson

There’s only one word to describe the Cubs farm system: loaded.

It’s the reason Baseball Prospectus has the organization rated number one in all of baseball. It’s also a reason Vegas is one year ahead of schedule on Chicago.

While tremendous strides will be had, it’ll take more than a couple of breakout performances for the young Cubbies to challenge for the NL Central crown in 2015.
