Detroit Lions

  • 2014 Finish: 11-5, 2nd in NFC North, Lost in Wild Card
  • Top Positional Need: Cornerback

The Detroit Lions are an interesting group heading into 2015.

They’re a team that always seems to linger on the brink of a breakout. Yet something always gets in the way (see non-pass interference against Dallas in playoffs for most recent evidence).

Lions Cornerbacks:

  1. Darius Slay
  2. Rashean Mathis
  3. Nevin Lawson
  4. Bill Bentley
  5. Mohammed Seisay
  6. Crezdon Butler
  7. Nate Ness

Sure they lost Ndamukong Suh, their best defensive player by a mile. But they responded quickly with the acquisition of Haloti Ngata. While it won’t solve long-term issues on the interior, it certainly keeps the defensive identity partially intact for the upcoming season.

Offensive line (at all spots) and running back help will be coming in as well.

Where the major need lies, however, is at the corners.

Rashean Mathis is now 34-years old and quite frankly cannot be a starter in this league anymore. He started all 16 games last year for Detroit. Darius Slay is a serviceable guy, but a stud cover guy has noticeably been missing for a couple years now.
